Safer Surfing with a little help from addons.

The internet can be a very dangers place, nasty websites lurking around every cyber corner just waiting for some unsuspecting web user to click on the website and infect their PC.

Most of us gain knowledge through experience, but that can have a costly expense when it comes to I.T. support.

Help is a hand, using Google chrome, which can be installed from www.google.co.uk and 2 very good add-on apps; you can have a safer web experience. The add-on apps are free but you can give donations to help support them. The apps will show you 1) when a website is not safe and 2) remove those frustrating download buttons, which aren't what they are supposed to be.

The apps will work in addition to your antivirus protection and should not cause any sort of conflict. If you don't have any antivirus protection, we recommend Avast free from www.avast.com.
To get both of these add-ons you'll need to have Google Chrome installed, if you don't have it yet, install it from www.google.co.uk free (see below).
The first app to install is the Web Of Trust app, it adds a handy little icon to website links to show if the link is taking you to a safe or unsafe place.
This is before the app is installed...
This is after the app is installed...
Green circles like traffic lights show it's safe to continue to the webpage, red circles show its unsafe to continue.
If you click on an unsafe link, you'll be shown a useful message to go back to get you out of there safely, see below.
To install the app is easy, using Google Chrome browse to www.mywot.com and click on the 'Download add-on for Chrome' button.
Wait a few moments until a message appears near the top, Add to Chrome, click on the Add button.
Again wait a few moments, until you see the welcome message and that's it, the WOT app is installed. Notice the Icon on the top right hand corner of the browser, this shows the app is working.
This app removes all those unwanted adverts from webpages. It's easy to use and if you want to see the adverts from any particular webpage, you can pause the AdBlock app to see the webpage as it was originally made.
This is before the app is installed...
This is after the app is installed... You just get the relevant links.
To install the app, again you need to be using Chrome browse and go to www.getadblock.com and click on the 'Get AdBlock Now' button.
Wait a few moments until a message appears near the top, Add to Chrome, click on the Add button.
Again wait a few moments, until you see the message 'Now you have AdBlock Hooray' and that's it, the app is installed. Notice the red Icon on the top right hand corner of the browser, this shows the app is working.
Now enjoy your web experience knowing you are a little safer on-line.
