How do I create recovery media in Windows 8.

Most manufacturers have their own software for creating recovery media. HP, Compaq, Toshiba and Sony are some of the brands that give you the option of creating recovery DVDs. Most other brands use Microsoft's built in utility for creating a recovery USB stick. Here's how to find and use it.
Note: Click on any picture below to see a larger image.
Type 'recovery' on the start screen to begin a search.

Click on the 'settings' option to get the right results.
Next click on 'Create a recovery drive' from the list of results.
Tick the box next to 'Copy recovery partition'.

Then click 'Next' to continue.
Now plug in your USB stick, its most likely going to need a 32GB stick but some will fit on a 16GB stick.

Once the USB stick shows in the available list, select it and click 'Next' to continue.
All the data on the USB stick will be wiped, so if you're sure, continue by clicking on 'Create'.
The process can take quite a long while, on some systems it has been known to take hours.
Once the recovery drive is completed you will be offered the option of removing the recovery partition. I strongly recommend leaving this partition alone,
DO NOT DELETE IT.

Click 'Finish' to close the window.
That's it you have created your recovery media. Now keep the USB stick safe for future emergency use.
