DVD drive not showing up in My Computer.

If you are not sure which version of windows you are using, look at the picture below. Does the green start button in the bottom left hand corner look like yours? If Yes you are likely to be using XP. Follow these steps.
Lets first check to see if this solution will solve your problem. Click on the start button.
Right click the mouse button over 'My Computer' and click on 'Properties'.
This screen will confirm you are using Windows XP. (It does not matter which version of XP, but if yours does not say Service Pack 3, it's worth updating it to keep your system protected and be able to install the latest software releases.)
Now click on the 'Hardware' tab.
Now click on the 'Device Manager' button.
A window showing all the hardware devices installed on the computer will now pop up. If your problem can be fixed with this solution you will see a similar icon showing a problem with your CD DVD drive.
Note: The actual text next to the DVD drive will be different, as there are hundreds of different DVD drives.
Now right click on the DVD drive with the problem. From the drop down menu, select 'uninstall'. Next close any open windows.
Now click on the start menu again and this time left click on 'Run...'. In the box that appears type 'regedit' and press the 'Enter' key.
The 'Registry Editor' now opens, please follow these steps exactly as described and don't change anything not in the instructions. Changing something could stop windows from working.
Hit the plus next to 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE'.
Next hit the plus next to 'SYSTEM'.
Hit the plus next to the 'CurrentControlSet', then 'Control'.
Hit the plus next to 'Class'.
Now this is the bit to get right. Come down your list until you get to '{4D36E65-E325...', dont hit the plus this time, instead select it.
In the right hand frame of the window you should see iether 'UpperFilters' and or 'LowerFilters'. Select the one you have by clicking it so that it is highlighted and then hit the 'Delete' key. Once there are no Upper or Lower Filters, you're done.
Restart your computer. Give it a minute once the computer has restarted and the drivers should now re-install correctly.
